Summer Activities

There is just as much to see and do in Summer here Les Angles as there is in Winter, and with warm temperatures gracing the Pyrenees during Summer, this only adds to the enjoyment factor!

Walking

Best Times: JUNE - OCTOBER

Superb choice of way-marked trails to suit all abilities, from gentle rambles around the forests of Lac de Matermale to challenging ascents of peaks rising to nearly 3000m.

The Pyrenees have a great net-work of guarded refuges allowing multi day walks to be completed in relative confort following either marked trails or demanding off path routes. We are able to suggest appropriate routes, what maps will be required, the easiest access routes and equipment needed to help you devise the best routes and maximise your holiday time and enjoyment. As professional International  Mountain Leaders we can also devise and guide you on a bespoke walking holiday.

Summer Guided Walks & Treks

Best Times: JUNE - OCTOBER

The Pyrenees offer a delightful variety of walking terrain for ramblers and keen walkers alike. Mike, your host is a qualified guide and has climbed and walked all over the world, having led for several prestigious UK companies.

Unlike many walking holidays that only offer a 'one size fits all' approach, we prefer to tailor our walks to clients specific needs so that all of your group can enjoy their holiday. Based in Les Angles, you can pick from a menu of day walks or hut to hut, valley rambles, high peaks via standard routes or challenging ridges and summits where steep terrain, 1000m plus ascents and some scrambling will be the order of the day. Our bespoke menu does mean that an 'easy day' can be factored in to any schedule, but we do ask for a minimum of 4 people with prices starting from £495.00 per person for a weeks guided walking on a b&b basis.

Although we are based in the French Pyrenees, we have experience in the Alps, Atlas and Himalayas and we would be pleased to discuss all of your requirements.

Rock Climbing & Mountaineering

Best Times: ALL YEAR ROUND

As keen climbers and mountaineers for over 50 years, your hosts are well qualified to advise you on climbing in the Pyrenees.

We have several local granite sports crags in the valley with routes up to F8b as well as the bouldering mecca of Targassonne just 30mins away.

Big, bolted and trad limestone crags are just a short drive away and lovers of big mountain granite can get their fix also on climbs up to 900m high. For the “real” climbing high, the massive conglomerate towers of Montserrat are just 2 hours away.

Several of the summits in this part of the Pyrenees can only be accessed by traversing long scrambling ridges, often with committing abseils.

Golf

Best Times: JUNE - OCTOBER

Your host is a member of the local Font Romeu golf club but enjoys playing the three 18 hole courses in Puigcerda located just 35mins away, as well as many of the other 8 courses in the area including PGA Catalunya, the no1 ranked course in Spain.

Cycling

Best Times: JUNE - OCTOBER

With mile after mile of marked mountain bike routes this is a fantastic venue for keen bikers who like cross country as well as dare devil downhill tracks accessed from the Les Angles goldola at 2150m. Lovers of single tracks have a vast choice to attack and as the top UK mountain bike magazines have said “the area has some of the best single track trails in the world”.

Road bikers are not ignored in this part of the Pyrenees, with hundreds of miles of quiet roads passing through traditional mountain villages where the only distraction is the stunning views. Whilst we have some gentle roads around the valley, a good level of fitness will enable you to get the best from this area. As ex competitive cyclists we will be pleased to talk to you about the area and what you can expect.

It’s no co-incidence that the worlds top cyclists and triathletes come here to train.
