Winter Activities

Winter time is Les Angles is a great time to be here, not just for the skiers & snowboarders, but for anyone who is seeking something else or extra in their holiday. If you like to try new things, we have a wide range of activities available here in Les Angles, and we will do our best to arrange/organise these for you.

Skiing & Snowboarding

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

Les Angles is one of the premier Pyrenean ski stations with 50k of marked pistes and is part of the Neige Catalan ski domaine with 8 stations and over 330k of pistes.

We are just 5mins walk away from the nearest lifts and nursery slopes. Several ski hire shops in the village have a range of quality equipment and clothing available for hire and purchase, suitable for all abilities.

The Pyrenees offer a traditionally French ski experience with easy access from the UK by car, train or air. We enjoy an excellent snow record supported by some of the best snow making facilities in France.

  • Our pistes are some of the best maintained in Europe and each station in the valley offers a different experience, perfect for mixed ability groups.
  • With our new and updated lift system, queuing is a rarity outside high season.
  • Choice of instruction from ESF, Ski’n Co and private instructors.
  • Enjoy our dedicated snowpark and half pipe.
  • A great boarder-cross course is created at different times of the season.
  • Dedicated competitions in high season.

Cross country skiing

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

Cross country skiing or 'Ski de Fond', is extremely popular in the Capcir region and each ski station has it’s own marked trails in addition to specialist Ski de Fond trails in the valley.

A choice of pisted trails are available at Pla del Mir, Col de Quillan and Col de Llose throughout the winter season. Instruction and equipment can be hired locally.

Guided Walking & Snow Shoeing

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

Snow shoeing or Raquettes is one of the ancient methods of winter travel which was originally done using wooden shoes resembling oversize tennis raquets. With the advent of modern light weight materials, this sport has been transformed into an activity that anyone can now do. The high valleys of the Capcir/Cedagne provide a perfect base to explore the local trails or take on the remote high mountain routes.

Even though we specialise in getting away from the ski pistes, using the ski lifts enables us to undertake day trips to access the more remote winter places with a picnic lunch or a meal at a refuge. The network of guarded refuges enables us to undertake series of hut to hut treks staying at over 2000m each night without having to carry too much weight.

Equipment can be hired locally and you just need to bring your normal walking equipment and boots.

We are qualified snow shoe guides and will be pleased to suggest appropriate routes or arrange bespoke guided trips for those who want to seek out those unspoilt slopes.

Dog Sledding

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

The forests below our house is home to “Husky Forever”a dog sledding company that arranges trips through the forest, personal tuition or multi day outings.

A sledding trip is a great birthday or anniversary treat for your loved one.

Ice Diving

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

Yes, it is possible to take a trip to dive under a frozen lake. Not for the faint hearted but guaranteed to be a conversation stopper at your next dinner party!

Winter Canyonning

Best Times: DECEMBER - APRIL

Taking advantage of natural hot water springs means that descending “hot” waterfalls in deepest winter is a possibility.
